About the game
The counterpart to Pokémon Red, with Blastoise on the cover and a different pool of available creatures. Instead of Growlithe or Scyther, players encounter Vulpix, Meowth, Sandshrew, and Pinsir, forcing owners of the two versions to cooperate. The Western release of Pokémon Blue was technically based on the Japanese Pokémon Blue, so it received cleaner graphics and fixes compared with the original Japanese cartridges. The story and map of Kanto remain identical.

A diagram, not a world map: distances are not to scale, there are no coastlines, and a route that bends in the game is a straight line here. The directions are accurate, though — every connection matches the game. The legend below the drawing explains each symbol.
- Route — number inside
- Sea route — Surf only
- City
- Pokémon League
- Interior — cave, forest, tower; placed next to its entrance
- Path between places
- Path that requires Surf
- Entrance to an interior — not a passage to the other side
