Pokédex · III (Hoenn)

Azurill#298

Compared with other species it is not impressive; its strongest stat is HP. On the other hand, Speed — lower than 98% of species. Its base stat total is weak: lower than 100% of species. This is not the final form yet — it evolves twice more, so the numbers above describe this stage, not what it will end up as. In defense it has 2 weaknesses, 2 resistances and 2 full immunities at its disposal. Ghost and Dragon-type moves do nothing to it at all. It cannot breed — it has no Egg Group, so you will not get it from breeding.

Last column: what percentage of 1084 species and regional forms have a lower value. Weak point: Sp. Atk.

Defense and Sp. Def share first place here, so any nature that raises one of them will do. The list of natures shows what each one does.

Which nature to choose

Attack (20) and Sp. Atk (20) are nearly equal, so neither of these two stats can be lowered for free. The price has to be paid in defense — in the weaker one, because Defense does not stop anything here anyway. Evolution does not change it, so pick it for the final form, not for these numbers.

  • Brave +Atk · −Spe Slow and attacking on both sides — the cheapest thing to give up is what it does not have. Under Trick Room this drop actually helps.
  • Adamant +Atk · −SpA A variant for Huge Power: this ability doubles Attack, so the nature boosts the stat before that multiplier. Without this ability, go back to the suggestions above.
  • Hidden Power and Weather Ball still deal damage based on Sp. Atk. If either of them is going into the set, lowering Sp. Atk is no longer free.

A conclusion drawn from base stats alone — a specific moveset can reverse it. All 25 natures.
