About the game
The enhanced version of the second generation and the last game in the series released exclusively for Game Boy Color. Pokémon sprites gained animations when entering battle, and Suicune received its own storyline running throughout Johto. Pokémon Crystal was the first entry to let players choose a female protagonist instead of a male one, a standard feature today but a novelty then. It also added the Battle Tower, a mode for players seeking a challenge after earning the final Badge.

A diagram, not a world map: distances are not to scale, there are no coastlines, and a route that bends in the game is a straight line here. The directions are accurate, though — every connection matches the game. The legend below the drawing explains each symbol.
- Route — number inside
- Sea route — Surf only
- City
- Interior — cave, forest, tower; placed next to its entrance
- Path between places
- Path that requires Surf
- Entrance to an interior — not a passage to the other side
